Club Notes 10th September 2017

Senior Championship

The seniors faced neighbours Castledawson in the semi final of the championship on Saturday in a wet and windy Owenbeg. The Bridge played with the breeze in the first half and got off to a great start racing into a 1-03 to 0-01 lead after 8 minutes with the goal coming via Eamon Burke. A lull followed for the next 10 minutes or so with neither team registering a score but the in the 26th minute Burke got his second goal of the game and in first half injury time he completed the hatrick to leave half time score Newbridge 3-07 Castledawson 0-03. Despite playing against the breeze in the second half, the Bridge were always in control and rounded off a dominant display with an audacious Ciaran Brooks goal in the 62nd minute to run out comfortable winners on a score line of Newbridge 4-12 Castledawson 0-09.

Newbridge scorers were E Burke (3-03), C Brooks (1-00), M Bateson (0-03), K Sweeney, C Doherty, SP McCann, P McGuigan, D Mulholland & O McGlone (0-01 each).

The team will now face Faughanvale in the championship final on Sunday 24th September.
