Seniors and Reserves
The seniors faced Desertmartin in the first round of the championship on Saturday in Glen. The Bridge had an edgy opening quarter which saw Desertmartin leading by 1-03 to 0-04 however in the 15th minute a flowing move involving Mulhollland, Sweeney and McGlone was finished to the net by Ciaran Brooks and from hereon the Bridge never lost the lead. A second goal followed in the 23rd minute with Mulholland again the provider as he fisted across the goals to Conor Doherty who boxed the ball to the back of the net. With the Bridge 4 ahead at the break, they got the second half off to a great start as a piercing solo run from Conor McGrogan was rounded off with a third Bridge goal this time via the diving fist of Kevin Sweeney. To Desertmartins credit, they continued to battle hard however the closest they got to within the Bridge lead was 6 points. A workman like performance from the team was rewarded with a final score of Newbridge 3-15 Desertmartin 2-09.
