Club Notes 3rd September 2017

Seniors and Reserves Championship

The reserves were first up on Wednesday night vs Slaughtneil Thirds. A relatively even opening quarter saw Slaughtneil ahead by one however the Bridge were dire in the next 15 minutes and found themselves trailing by 8 at the break. The second half saw an improvement in the Bridges performance however the damage was done in the first half and unfortabtely the teams championship challenged ended at the quarter final stage. Final score Newbridge 1-11 Slaughtneil 2-15.

Newbridge scorers were R McElhone (0-05), PJ O’Neill (1-00), J Diamond & T Walls (0-02 each) and A McGlone (0-01).

On Thursday evening the seniors made the short trip to Bellaghy to face Ballymaguigan. As expected, this was a dogged hard hitting championship affair with Quigan opening up a 2 point lead after 7 minutes but in the 8th minute a Danny Mulholland goal put the Bridge into the lead and this was a lead they retained to the final whistle as they were deserved winners on a scoreline of Newbridge 1-13 Ballymaguigan 0-14

Newbridge scorers were D Mulholland (1-02), C Doherty (0-03), M Bateson (0-02), N Rocks, E Burke, P McGuigan, O McGlone, P McGrogan and SP McCann (0-01 each).

The seniors are now scheduled to face Castledawson in the semi final this Saturday (9th) at 3pm in Owenbeg. Lets get a big support out and get behind the team.
