Club Notes 26th August 2018

Seniors

The seniors faced Glenullin away on Wednesday evening in the penultimate league game of the season.  The Bridge were the superior team throughout the game however failed to make it count on the scoreboard as they kicked a series of shots wide and short which made it more difficult than what they would have wanted, but in the end the result was all that mattered and this was achieved on a scoreline of Newbridge 0-16 Glenullin 0-13.

Newbridge scorers were Peter & Mark McGrogan (0-05 each), Padraig McGrogan, O McGlone, C Brooks, C Doherty, D Mulholland and J Diamond (0-01 each).

On Sunday the team faced Lavey away in the final league game knowing they had to win by 6 points or more to keep their destiny in our own hands.  The team put up a much more efficient performance from Wednesday as first half pressure was rewarded with a commanding 10 point half time aided by goals from Paddy McGuigan and a superb finish from Paudie McGrogan from near the end line on the stroke of half time.  The second half saw a calm composed performance as the team built on the foundations laid in the first half and ran out winners on a scoreline of Newbridge 2-20 Lavey 0-12.

Newbridge scorers were Padraig McGrogan & P McGuigan (1-00 each), C Doherty (0-05), Peter & Mark McGrogan (0-04 each), J Diamond (0-03), C Brooks (0-02), Conor McGrogan & M Bateson (0-01).

The team have now finished 12th in the league due to scoring difference and as a result will face Banagher in a relegation/promotion playoff on a later date which is to be confirmed.
