Club Notes 2nd July 2017

Seniors and Reserves 

The Seniors and Reserves both faced parish neighbours Ballymaguigan at home on Sunday evening. The seniors were first up and got off to a great start scoring 7 unanswered points with the best of these coming from the boot of CD. The visitors scored the next 3 points and both teams traded scores before the break to leave half time score Newbridge 0-08 Ballymaguigan 0-04.   Kevin Sweeney opened the scoring in the second half via a free and soon after he was at the end of a sublime Michael Bateson pass to drill the ball to the back of the net to increase the lead to 8. The Bridges dominance continued with 2 points from Danny Mulholland and a sweeping team move was finished with a superb Conor McGrogan goal in the 41st minute. The Bridge did not take their foot off the pedal and a third goal followed in the 45th minute this time from Danny Mulholland who hit the top corner of net. The final quarter of the game saw further points from Burke (2), Mulholland, Sweeney, PJ O’Neill and CD as the Bridge ran out comfortable winners on a scoreline of Newbridge 3-19 Ballymaguigan 0-08.

Newbridge scorers were D Mulholland (1-05), K Sweeney (1-03), C McGrogan (1-00), C Doherty (0-05), E Burke (0-03), C Brooks (0-02) and PJ O’Neill (0-01).

The Reserves, whilst not at their best, made it a good day at the office with a 14 point victory on scoreline of Newbridge 2-13 Ballymaguigan 0-05.

Newbridge scorers were J Diamond (0-08), C Diamond (1-02), PJ O’Neill (1-01), P Murphy and A McGrogan (0-01 each).

The Seniors face Drumsurn at home on Wednesday evening.


Membership for 2017 is now due, cost £20 and committee members are calling around as many houses as possible to collect this. If by any chance a representative has not called at your door and you wish to be a member, please let any committee member know to help get this arranged. All membership monies are required to be ASAP.

Cul Camp 

This years Cul Camp takes place 24th – 28th July for boys and girls aged 6-13. To register for this event, apply online @ Please note Friday 21st July is the cut off date for registration.
