Newbridge GAC Notes 24th May 2015


Seniors and Reserves 

The seniors faced Kilrea away on Sunday and after wasting scoring opportunities they were trailing by 2 points with 28 minutes on the clock however the Bridge finished the half strongest hitting 3 unanswered points to lead by 1 at the break. The Bridges’ purple patch continued at the beginning of the 2nd half with points from McElhone, McGuigan and McGrogan and a superb individual goal from Odhran McGlone to leave the score 1-09 to 0-05 after 35 minutes. Both teams swapped scores over the next 18 minutes however the decisive score came in the 54th minute with Michael Bateson grabbing the Bridges second goal after rounding the ‘keeper. Kilrea got the final scores of the game however it made no difference as another fine team performance was rewarded with 2 points, final score Newbridge 2-11 Kilrea 0-12. 

Newbridge scorers were P McGrogan & K Sweeney (0-04 each), O McGlone & M Bateson (1-00 each), C Brooks, R McElhone and P McGuigan (0-01 each).  

A depleted reserve team endured a torrid 60 minutes and were well beaten by Kilrea, Newbridge scorers were PJ O’Neill (0-04), R Carron & C Dougan (0-01 each). 

Both teams face Glenullin at home this Sunday.

This week’s lotto numbers are 12, 19, 23 & 25 – there were no winners.  Roseena Murphy, Dermot Doherty, Eileen Walls and Holly Nelson each win £25.  Next weeks jackpot is £1,700.
