Seniors and Reserves
The seniors faced Glenullin at home on Sunday evening and played with the wind in the first half. Glenullin opened the scoring via a free however for the next 10 minutes the Bridge took control starting with a Peter McGrogan point which was followed up with a smartly taken Michael Bateson goal. Dessie McColgan was next up with a fine point and a minute later he got on the end of a flowing team move to score a superb goal from 14 yards, Kevin Sweeney completed the scoring in this purple patch to leave the score 2-03 to 0-01 after 13 minutes. Glenullin hit form thereafter scoring 4 unanswered points to reduce the Bridges lead and the teams traded a point each before the break to leave half time score Newbridge 2-04 Glenullin 0-06. Glenullin, now playing with the wind, started the 2nd half brightest hitting 2 quick points to eat further into the Bridges lead but after regaining some composure, the Bridge hit back with points from McGlone, McGrogan and Bateson. Over the course of the next 15 minutes, Glenullin grabbed 5 of the next 7 points to leave 2 between the teams with only 5 minutes remaining however 2 calmly taken frees by McElhone, the latter after a great interception and surging run by Ciaran Brooks, restored a 4 point lead. Glenullin grabbed their last score in the 59th minute and Kevin Sweeney got the last score of the game in injury time to confirm the win and ensure the Bridge made it 3 wins from their last 3 games. Full time score Newbridge 2-12 Glenullin 0-14.
Newbridge scorers were M Bateson & D McColgan (1-01 each), P McGrogan (0-04), K Sweeney & R McElhone (0-02 each), O McGlone & C Brooks (0-01 each).
Glenullin were unable to field a reserve team therefore Newbridge were awarded the points.
There will be no games this weekend due to Derrys USFC game. Next up for both teams is Ballinderry away on Wednesday 10th June.

A Quiz Night in aid of underage fundraising will be held in The Elk on Friday 5th June at 9pm sharp, everyone welcome.
There will be a Big Breakfast in the hall this Sunday from 9am – 12pm, admission £5 for adults and £3 for children
